This is a very interesting documentary about the origins of Christ. It argues and puts forth evidence that the Christian religion is derived from earlier religions, particularly that many myths about Jesus were taken from the legends of the Egyptian god Horus.

I’m currently reading a book called “101 Myths of the Bible: How ancient Scribes Invented Biblical History” by Gary Greenberg. It compares the Old Testament we read today with the original scripts. So much has changed it’s scary, and it’s obvious that the Bible was revised many times (perhaps in the interest of control).
In my Baptist elementary and junior high, they brainwashed told me the Bible was true word-for-word, even where there were discrepancies and contradictions. In my Catholic high school, they taught me that while the stories might not be word-for-word true, the importance was in the morals and teachings. That made so much more sense to me, and really opened my eyes to how insanely different teachings of the same religion could be.
